cPI G. Centi:
  • G. Centi is the first recipient of the 2025 APACS & EFCATS Michel Che Award, which recognizes outstanding scientists for their fundamental contributions in the fields of catalyst design and characterization. He was awarded for his groundbreaking work in CO₂ conversion, electrocatalysis, and solar fuels, including the development of advanced catalytic systems and artificial-leaf technologies. He has given a keynote lecture at Europacat 2025 in Trondheim (Norway).
  • G. Centi was granted y the title of Guest Professor of Lanzhou University (China) on 15 October 2025.
  • G. Centi received the honor of Honorary Fellow of the Chinese Chemical Society (CCS). The Honorary Fellow of the Chinese Chemical Society (CCS) is the highest honor bestowed by the CCS on internationally renowned chemists for outstanding contributions to chemistry, the advancement of Chinese chemical science, and international exchange.

PI2 A. Bogaerts:
  • May 2022: Selected as one of the 30 “Europe’s best chemistry professors” to recreate the iconic 1927 Solvay picture, and to help shape the future of chemical innovation in Europe, at the occasion of the Cefic 50th anniversary. Together with cPI.
  • December 2022: Selected for the short list (3 candidates) of Belgium for the International Frontiers Planet Prize 2022.
  • July 2023: European Physical Society Plasma Innovation Award for our research on plasma-based CO2 conversion and the creation of a spinoff (together with G. Trenchev).
  • January 2024: Selected as invited speaker at the official Opening Event of “Belgium being EU Chair”, in recognition of, and to promote SCOPE.
  • April 2024: AHA!-Award on Research Valorization (category “Achieved”) of VOKA (Kamer van Koophandel) and University of Antwerp (Award Ceremony at the Antwerp Innovation Night)
  • October 2024: Featured in the document written for the European Commission by an Expert Group on the Interim Evaluation of Horizon Europe “Align Act Accelerate. Research, Technology and Innovation to boost European Competitiveness” as illustrative example of “Competitive Excellence through MSCA, ERC and EIC” (the only “named” illustrative example in the 130-pages document).
  • March 2025: Prestigious Francqui Chair at Mons University (giving several lectures)
  • June 2025: Awarded to become Fellow of the International Plasma Chemistry Society (IPCS, awarded to researchers with extraordinary record of accomplishments in the field of Plasma Chemistry; the title of Fellow of IPCS is awarded to no more than 3% of its active members)
  • September 2025: Diels-Planck Medal, awarded by the Kiel Nano, Surface and Interface Science (KiNSIS) center.
  • The review Plasma catalysis: What is needed to create synergy? J. Van Turnhout, K. Rouwenhorst, L. Lefferts and A. Bogaerts, EES Catalysis, 3, 669-693 (2025) was selected as the 2025 Outstanding Review

I2 E. Rebrov
  • Honorary visiting Research professor at the University of Adelaide
  • Catalysts 2023 Best Paper Award. The paper by E.V. Rebrov and P. Gao "Molecular Catalysts for OER/ORR in Zn - Air Batteries" has been selected as the winner of the Catalysts Best Paper Awards among 1184 papers published as part of the Catalysts. The award is determined by the committee based on an overall evaluation of the originality and significance of the papers, taking citations and downloads into account. Catalysts is a peer-reviewed journal published monthly online by MDPI.

  • The paper Sustainable Plasma‐Catalytic Nitrogen Fixation with Pyramid Shaped μ‐Electrode DBD and Titanium Dioxide (ChemistrySelect, 2024, 9, e202401076) was among the most viewed papers papers in this journal.
  • The paper "Catalytic ammonia formation in a microreaction chamber with electrically intensified arc plasma" (ChemCatChem 16,13 (2024), e202400005) was among the most cited 2024 papers in this journal.
